What is the protocol to do the Facial Acupuncture?
At clinic of naturopathy of Dr Manesh ND the protocol to do a facial acupuncture is clear.
The first session is a one-hour comprehensive consultation about your clinical health from chinese medicine perspective and includes Chinese Medicine tongue and pulse assessment. You will receive the first treatment in this session.
The follow-up treatment sessions are set in two to three days interval based on your picture presentation and your specific goals and typically are 45-60 minutes.
Individualized add-on Facial massage, Head massage, Gua Sha or microneedling can be done as needed to improve the lymphatic drainage, accelerating detoxification and promoting better collagen production, while helping with redistribution of Qi and Blood.
Dr Manesh ND recommends to come for the treatment without any makeup and as clean as possible. However, they have their own safe needle protocol, and they clean the skin of area they are needling before treatment. The actual acupuncture will be both on face and body emphasizing more on facial points based on constitutional chinese medicine or can be focused only on the face. The needles used for face are special for this purpose and are typically thinner than needles used on body. Anyway, the acupuncture needles are fine needles.
What is the treatment plan and when do I start seeing the results?
It really depends on your condition but the most common treatment plan is twice a week. The number of sessions is at least 10-12 sessions for an optimal result. You will start noticing the improvement in 4-6 weeks after starting the Facial Acupuncture.
Is there any side effect for acupuncture?
Acupuncture is generally safe and usually does not have major side effects. However, based on TCM diagnosis in the condition of excess, some people may experience bruising in the site of needle which will disappear in a few days. The Facial Acupuncture is an outpatient treatment and doesn’t have down time. So, you can get back to your activities right after the treatment.
